Integrated Textile Park at Ashokenagar & Banipur, Habra in the
District of North 24 Parganas, West Bengal

Power looms are a predominant segment in the entire textile value chain. There are about 24 lakh power looms in our country. It accounts for more than 57% of the total cloth production and provides employment to nearly 10 million people.
Presently the cloth production in our country (woven, non-woven and knitted) annually about 1,15,000 million sq. mtrs. out of which 65000 million sq. mtrs. clothes are manufactured in Power loom sector. In West Bengal, production from Power loom sector is only about 300 million sq. mtrs. against the annual consumption of about 7200 million sq. mtrs., including supply chain to neighboring states. Obviously woven clothes are imported now mostly from other States like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu etc. to meet up the requirement.
Total requirement of woven clothes annually in Garment Sector alone is about 3200 million Sq. mtrs. and presently it has been procured by them either from different Merchant houses located in Kolkata or import from other States (60% grey clothes and 40% dyed/ printed/processed clothes).
Annual production of 300 million Sq. mtrs. in the state is only catering 4% of total requirement of about 7200 million Sq. mtrs. Gap between production and consumption compel us to import fabric from other states. Hence there is a huge scope of immediate installation of about 1,50,000 power looms in the state alone.
Based on the huge consumption of Power loom clothes in the State, the Government of West Bengal has decided to set up “Integrated Textile Park with pre and post loom processing units i.e., Power Looms with other Textile related Units of Spinning Mills, Sizing & Wrapping, Wet Processing (Dying), Garmenting, Calendaring, etc. at Ashoknagar and Banipur, Habra in the district of North 24 Parganas, West Bengal” on a total area of about 47.25acres of
